Volume Three, Issue 3

Willing Victim

Pasithea Chan

Ideas churned in a spider’s abdomen
are spun in silky imagery
forming elaborate labyrinths
on creativity’s canvas.

Melody’s sun glistens on them
waiting for hungry eyes
to fall on their ears
as their lips read its rhymes.

Poetry is passion’s black widow
spinning images in alluring webs
that dance beauty to a wordy addiction.
Your heart and soul are its prey.

She will bleed your senses dry
sucking every drop of frustration
until your reality goes into emotional shock.
Only then will your imagination let your soul fly.

Never has death by dehydration
sounded so intoxicating
until I was bitten by a black widow.
So you see am stuck in its web!

Pasithea Chan: "I am a budding Lebanese Filipino impressionist who enjoys writing poetry in symbolism laced with philosophy and psychology. I write in various styles but prefer pieces that have double meanings to allow a reader to delve deeper into my works."
